Gloomy Sunday - Bài hát đã giết chết hơn 100 người

"Gloomy Sunday" là tên của một bài hát kể về 1 tình yêu đã mất. Thật đúng như tựa đề của nó, bài hát được viết vào một ngày Chủ Nhật thật ảm đạm của tháng 12 năm 1932 bởi 1 nhà soạn nhạc tên là Reszo Seress.

Reszo thường nằm nguyên ngày trong căn phòng của mình ở thủ đô Paris. Người phụ nữ anh yêu vừa cự tuyệt tình yêu cao thượng của anh. Reszo luôn luôn tôn thờ tình yêu của mình, nên vì vậy anh đã phải đau khổ thật nhiều khi tình yêu của anh bị từ chốị Trong nỗi thất vọng, anh đã sáng tác ra bài hát sầu thảm nhất trong đời. Khi bài nhạc được hoàn thành, Reszo cảm thấy nhẹ nhàng hơn đôi chút trong lòng. Tuy nó không bù vào nỗi mất mát tình yêu to lớn kia, nhưng bài hát của anh ta thật hay - đủ hay để được đưa vào đĩa nhạc thời bấy giờ.

Khi Reszo cố gắng bán "Gloomy Sunday", thoạt đầu anh đã gặp nhiều khó khăn khi tìm người tiêu thụ. Các nhà sản xuất đĩa nhạc cho rằng bài hát nghe rất lạ và quá buồn thảm để trở thành 1 đĩa nhạc có giá trị.

Một nhà sản xuất đã viết rằng: " Có cả một mối tuyệt vọng bị cưỡng ép thật kinh khủng trong bài hát ấỵ Tôi không nghĩ rằng nó sẽ đem lại điều gì hay ho cho người nào nghe bài hát ấỵ" (There's a sort of terrible compelling despair about it. I don't think it would do anyone anyone any good to hear a song like that.)

Nhưng không vì thế mà Reszo ngừng cố gắng để tìm mối tiêu thụ. Cuối cùng, anh ta đã tìm được 1 nhà sản xuất chịu phát hành nhạc của anh. Khi bài hát được tung ra thị trường cũng là lúc nhiều sự việc lạ lùng bắt đầu xảy ra.

Một người đàn ông đang ngồi trong 1 quán café đông đúc tại Budapest đòi ban nhạc chơi bản "Gloomy Sundaỵ" Người đàn ông ngồi tại bàn ông ta vừa nhấp rượu champagne vừa lắng nghe bài nhạc. Khi bản nhạc chấm dứt, người đàn ông trả tiền, rời khỏi quán, và vẫy 1 chiếc xe taxi. Vừa ngồi vào trong xe, ông ta liền lôi ra 1 khẩu súng và tự kết liễu đời mình.

Vài ngày sau đó, một cô gái bán hàng thật trẻ đã tự treo cổ tại Berlin. Nằm phía dưới chân của cô gái là tờ nhạc của bài "Gloomy Sunday" .

Một cô thư ký xinh đẹp tại New York tự tử trong căn apartment bằng hơi ga đã để lại một mẩu giấy nhỏ xin yêu cầu bản nhạc "Gloomy Sunday" được chơi vào buổi lễ an táng cô.

Khắp thế giới, có nhiều bài tường trình về những cái chết liên quan đến bài hát ây. Ca sĩ chết trong lúc hát. Người ta chết trong lúc nghe.

Cuối cùng thì công ty truyền thông Anh Quốc phải cấm hẳn bài "Gloomy Sunday" vào những buổi phát thanh thường lệ trên làn sóng. Công ty này không thể làm ngơ trước những lời phiền hà đến từ bài hát ấy.

Nhiều hệ thống viễn thông Hoa Kỳ cũng nhanh chóng làm giống vậy. Mười lăm quốc gia khác đã đâm đơn kiện bài hát. Các luật sư quanh thế giới đã tranh luận rằng người soạn nhạc của bài hát có nên chịu trách nhiệm cho hàng loạt cái chết là hậu quả của sự sáng tạo của anh ta hay không. Nhưng khi các đài radio cố gắng hủy bỏ bài hát thì nó càng trở nên phổ biến hơn. Người ta còn cảm thấy hào hứng hơn khi nghe bài hát "tự tử" này (suicide song).

Bài hát dường như ảnh hưởng mọi người không phân biệt gì đến tuổi tác hay tầng lớp. Một người đàn ông 80 tuổi tự hủy diệt đời mình bằng cách nhảy từ cánh cửa sổ lầu bảy xuống trong khi bài nhạc đang hát. Một cô gái 14 tuổi chết đuối khi trong tay còn cầm một bản copy của bài "Gloomy Sunday".

Một nạn nhân trẻ tuổi khác, một cậu bé sai vặt người Ý, đang đi ngang một người ăn xin trên lề đường đang hát bản nhạc "Gloomy Sunday" đột nhiên dừng lại, để chiếc xe đạp của cậu sang một bên, tiến dần đến chỗ người ăn xin và cho ông ta hết số tiền mà cậu đang có. Sau đó chẳng một lời nào, cậu bé đi đến một cây cầu gần đấy và tự nhảy xuống tìm lấy cái chết.

Báo chí lượm lặt hết tất cả những câu chuyện và gửi phóng viên đến phỏng vấn Reszo và hỏi anh ta nghĩ gì về điều ấy. Nhưng Reszo cũng bàng hoàng như bao người khác. Anh ta cũng chẳng hiểu vì sao bài hát của mình đã gây ra nhiều điều bất thường đến vậy.

Từ đó, người soạn nhạc dường như bị truyền nhiễm những điều bất lành theo sau bài nhạc bất cứ khi nào và nơi đâu khi bản nhạc được chơi lên. Khi bài "Gloomy Sunday" trở thành một "top hit" trong tuần, Reszo đã viết một lá thư gửi cho người yêu cũ của chàng và xin thêm một cơ hội nữa để nối lại mối duyên xưa.

Ngày hôm sau, người ta tìm thấy thi hài của cô gái trẻ đã chết vì uống thuốc quá liều lượng. Bên cạnh cô ta là một tờ giấy với nét chữ nghệch ngoạc trên ấy nhưng còn có thể đọc được. Đó là tên của bài nhạc "Gloomy Sunday".

Đến lúc này thì Reszo chẳng còn nghi ngờ gì về bài hát mang đầy tính nguyền rủa của chính mình. Lần đầu tiên trong đời, Reszo cố gắng thu hồi lại bài nhạc để nó khỏi bị lan ra nhiều thêm. Nhưng tất cả mọi nỗ lực của anh đều không thành. Bài hát càng bị cấm, nó lại càng trở nên phổ biến hơn. Những bản copy lậu được bày bán trên đường phố như một loại trái cấm.

Trong mỗi quốc gia, số người chết lại càng gia tăng. Bài hát đã đem lại nhiều lời đồn đại chết người đến nỗi các nhạc sĩ không dám chơi bài ấy hay thậm chí các ca sĩ cũng sợ không dám hát.

Thời gian trôi quạ Chiến tranh thế giới lần thứ 2 bùng nổ và người ta cũng bắt đầu quên đi bài hát ấy. Dần dần, cơn sốt bài hát được lắng dịu xuống.

Vào thời điểm này Cơ Quan Truyền Thông Anh Quốc quyết định nới lỏng lệnh cấm bài hát. Đài BBC cho phát thanh "Gloomy Sunday" trên làn sóng điện, nhưng bấy giờ bài nhạc chỉ còn là một hợp tấu khúc (orchestral piece). Từ ấy bài hát được sửa lại theo lối hoà âm hợp khúc nàỵ

kiểu version mới này được phát ra và cứ lập đi lập lại hàng giờ trong một căn apartment nhỏ. Người cảnh sát đi tuần gần đấy cứ phải nghe mãi một bài hát và lấy làm lạ. Tiếng âm nhạc phát ra từ cánh cửa sổ của một hộ apartment trên con phố mà người cảnh sát tuần tiễu. Cảm thấy lạ vì người nào có thể nghe mãi một bài hát cứ hát đi hát lại mãi thật nhiều lần mà không ngừng nghỉ, người cảnh sát cuối cùng quyết định điều tra.

Khi viên cảnh sát bước vào căn nhà, "Gloomy Sunday" đang được hát trên dàn máy hát xoay tròn tự động. Thân thể của một thiếu phụ đang nằm cạnh chiếc bàn nơi để chiếc máy hát đang chạỵ .Người thiếu phụ đã chết với một liều thuốc ngủ cực mạnh.

Đây mới chỉ là một bắt đầu của hàng loạt cuộc tự tử khác nối tiếp. Một lần nữa, Cơ Quan Truyền Thông Anh Quốc phải ra cấm lệnh đối với bài hát.

Giờ đây thì Reszo Seress đã trở thành một người luôn bị ám ảnh bởi những cái chết do bài hát của anh ta gây nên.

Có hơn 100 người chết sau khi nghe bài hát "Gloomy Sunday". Bài hát vẫn có thể được nghe từ thời này sang thời khác. Gần đây, số tường trình về những cái chết liên quan đến bài hát ấy không còn nữa. Có lẽ lời nguyền năm xưa đã hết linh nghiệm chăng? Có thể là vậy. Nhưng nếu bạn đang ở trong một quán bar nào đó và khi nghe người disc jockey bảo rằng bài nhạc cũ kỳ lạ "Gloomy Sunday" sắp được chơi, tôi thành thật khuyên bạn nên bước ra ngoài và tham gia những trò chơi khác thì tốt hơn.

Còn một vấn đề mà bạn cũng nên biết là ông Rezso Seress, người viết ra bài nhạc nầy tự tử vào năm 1968...
